CAREL integrates Redfish protocol into data centre solutions

The data center solutions offered by the CAREL Group, thanks to the boss range and the boss one board for programmable controllers, are now compatible with the Redfish protocol, a standardised management interface developed by the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF) for newly built data centres. This compatibility represents a significant step forward in the management and monitoring of IT infrastructures.

The Redfish protocol, introduced in 2015 with a focus on servers, has evolved through collaboration with Green Grid and ASHRAE, and enables the management and monitoring of all IT infrastructures. It extends to electrical components and cooling equipment in a secure, scalable, and user-friendly way, allowing interoperability between components from different manufacturers. One of Redfish’s main advantages is its ability to provide a detailed, real-time view of all data center resources, including energy consumption, thus helping to optimise operational efficiency and reduce energy costs.

The new protocol is particularly crucial for liquid cooling in data centers: it offers a standardised and secure management interface that allows real-time monitoring and control of temperature conditions and energy consumption of both IT equipment and associated cooling systems, maintaining optimal ranges and preventing component overheating, with maximum energy efficiency.

Enrico Boscaro, CAREL Group Solution Marketing Manager - Industrial HVAC, stated: “Thanks to boss and boss one, we are now better able to support our customers in developing cooling solutions, from CDUs to chilled doors, that can be integrated into the Redfish ecosystem, contributing to the challenge of cooling today’s and tomorrow’s data centers ever more efficiently.”
